69th Independence Day- Time to ACT!!!

Image
The country is celebrating the 69 th INDEPENDENCE DAY. August 15 th 1947, the day when we were declared as an Independent Nation from the hands of the British. Today, I was hearing the viral speech of ‘Shashi Tharoor’ in a debate at Oxford Union on the topic ‘Should Britain pay reparations to its former colonies?'  I was thinking about how a colonial rule for two centuries devastated the Indian economy. But still I am proud of this nation, we fought back and now India is seen as one of the biggest Global contributors in every field! But are we really equipped to meet the needs of the future India - The basic amenities? Writing articles, conducting debates, creating awareness is all good but do you think it really helps to resolve our problems unless every one of us act? I am trying to convey through this write-up- A simple rule which can make a drastic change to this world. “Less Wastage” Yes, the word which we hate the most and the one which we make the mo

Lost in Memories

Still fresh like it all happened last week… I, Shikha*, my schooldays- made me feel nostalgic after that train journey ( http://sunilsvoyage.blogspot.in/2014/07/girl-from-4th-grade.html ). Monsoons of 2001… I was short but fair, naughty but innocent and was one of the talkative brats (according to teachers) in my class. Teachers tried all their ways to make me talk less in the class, but in vain. I escaped most of the time from the bamboo sticks since I had a poor physique. Fellow mates called me ‘kullan’(midget) since I stood first in the assembly line. Often I forgot my name itself when those idiots used it like my pet name. Start of another academic year, the rains lashed all the day while the teacher’s slashed the sticks on the bench to make us silent. Even though I was little naughty I was good in studies and teachers were little lenient about me being talkative.  That year we had a new face in our class...I still don’t remembe

Life after Death is an illusion, does the soul wander or does it reincarnate? Will we meet anyone whom we know on that path or the Creator himself?  Heaven or Hell -How that matters after death? Or Is that referred to different phases of our life itself?                                          Many thoughts were thronging my mind and I definitely know that it’s quite absurd to think about a Life after Death while we are still alive in this beautiful world, but are WE really LIVING? I have a different perception about it and that made me write this!!!                            Am I living or am I just passing my time here… More or less it has become  mechanical, half the time thinking about what I actually want to do and another quarter spent in regretting about the past, half the day in workplace competing & rest in social media to meet the 4 th basic need – TO BE CONNECTED!! At the end when

Golden Ride

Golden Ride Morning bells or mosquito bites Waked up us sharp at five. Packed the bags after a shower. Left the duplex within an hour. Morning breeze and the golden rays, Made us fresh and start the ride. When Google Maps cleared the way Our Speeding bikes crossed the mile. The lush green fields And the never prune trees, Showed us the way To the free highways. Chasing the cars. And crossing the bars. Made us crave For a breakfast stop. Bills were high   $ he paid in sigh. Hit back the roads Under a cloudy sky. Golden temple is the place, Left our bikes in the parking space. Half an hour in the cage, That's the time to get HER grace. Long pathway in the shape of a star, That led us to the golden shrine. The Golden pillars, The Golden Peacock, The Crystal Shantliers $ the Golden Elephant All in the middle, Of the Sprinkling water in moat. Wrapped in silk and full of gems, I could feel HER ri

K A A V U - A Mystical Journey

After a strenuous week , today was one of the refreshing days of my life which I would treasure for all time. Not because today was my 25 th birthday! I was neither partying nor cutting the birthday cake … But it was altogether an unforgettable day! With GOKUL Gokul was on-time at the rendezvous, glad to see his new bike and his everlasting smile. I followed him and we drove few miles east through the steep roads that wind up-hill, it was small but refreshing. The sunset, dark clouds, lightning and the sounds of thunder, scenic beauty of the valley and the thin strand like roads down the hill were all mesmerizing. We sat there for some time enjoying the nature’s beauty, clicked few pictures and a selfie- the new culture we are following!!! . Drove down-hill crossing the paddy fields, narrow roads and a long bridge. It was drizzling by the time we reached his Tharavadu (ancestral home). It would be more than sixty years old but still had its splendor. A big back
