KAVA

Kava, a plant which is used in the pacific regions which was historically grown only in the pacific islands of Hawaii. The roots of the plant is used to produce a drink which is primarily consumed to relax without disrupting one’s mental consciousness.

I’m not describing about this plant but something which is very similar to this plant, which helps you to relax and find yourself close to the nature and its serine beauty.

Both share the same name and this is all about ‘KAVA’, the best place near to my home - plethora of reasons to love it.

KAVA

Radiant beauty in the hills of Malampuzha, without losing its serenity to the human expansion.

When thousands of people throng the Malampuzha gardens during the weekends and holidays to see the beautiful carved park, the joy-ride through the ropeway car over the woods and crossing the dam, the musical fountain, and for boating.

Very few like me cross this busy tourist spot and drive through the woods of Malampuzha to ‘KAVA’.

Ten kilometer drive from Malampuzha and it takes only twenty minutes to reach the valleys. We crossed 'Malampuzha' half past 3 and it was the best time to visit kava, in my experience.  But this time it was me riding pillion with my brother and it made the difference.

All it takes is to turn the wheels to the Aanakkal road and it would take you to the silence of the woods, we stopped in almost all the winding roads to capture the best pictures and make it memorable.

Every time I passed through these roads it was different experience. All four seasons I have been here and every time I pass through the roads, the canopy would be entirely different.  It was best after the rains and the probably in the months of August.

This time the winter was receding and the trees shed their leaves and laid a carpet of ripe leaves. The silence of the nature was disturbed only by the cracking sounds of the engine.  If you are from a place where your ear drums are blown away by the cranky sounds of the traffic, then this is the ideal spot for you to visit. You may not find the bison, boars or leopards but you would admire the way it welcomes you.

These are the eight tall affable palm trees that welcomes you. I always wish that it stand tall like this for years and welcome many more generations who would visit this beautiful place.

The trails that whirls along those palm trees would lead you to the vast lush green valley, standing onto the right is the hills, like a giant who have worn a thick velvet green armor of trees. This giant is cooled off by the far away winds which caress the waters of the reservoir flowing along the valley. The clouds would settle between these hills and flourish the green meadows during the rainy season making it green through the year…

We could hear the chirping sounds of the birds, the cool breeze that passed through the palm leaves stroking them to sing in a melancholy. The horizon turned its facial glimpse into the crimson red and the patches of clouds were lit by the rays. Felt like the dark and light shades of orange patches in the sky and its reflection in the waters made the whole area lit up to say a final bye to the setting sun for the day.

This is the moment of your life that you would really enjoy with your beloved ones.

A fisherman was trying his luck and I am sure this is a cake walk for him and the river would flood his nets with fish and would be day for him. Unlucky that I couldn’t capture those, there are certain moments which you forget to capture in a camera.

We spent some time there visualizing the beautiful canvas sketched by the nature, clicked few pictures to cherish these moments when our hectic life engulfs our mind and to ensure our inner-self that serenity is not so long..

It was wonderful evening with my brother and cousin, a good kick start for our next journey to “THE WOODS OF WAYANAD” ….
Pack the bags, switch on the music, let the wheels do the rest....
