Contemplation

In the turbulence of technological revolution, we are in a rat race. We seldom have time to hear our inner selves as we are chasing the so-called success - defined by others. The focus is to earn more and be on the top of fame, but in that rush & hush we miss to really live the life and imbibe its meaning.

I had a life with more have-nots than haves. Success was underrated as an accomplishment of mere physical possessions in life and measured it on others yardstick for a long time.

But times have changed, the outlook towards life took a drastic drift. Now, when I sit back and think I understand that Success is not a mere state or destination, but it’s a journey.

Success

Chasing someone else’s definition of success and constantly falling short has become the norm of the society. Seldom people have their own yardstick to measure their success.

Few are too anxious about the future, some engulfed in their past and many of us worried about what others think. Literally everyone trying to find peace in their lives though they have a white-collar job and a jaw dropping salary.

The moment of revelation would hit on us at some point of time. It may be a book, conversation with co-traveler, colleagues or your roomie. Anything can inspire you, but transformation happens when you absorb that revelation and consistently work on it.

In this journey we either achieve our goals, or we fail and retrospect. Irrespective of whether we achieve our results or not, we must move on. This cognizance has paved a stress-free life for me and gave a new perception about success.

Peer pressure

“Comparison is the thief of joy”
               -Theodore Roosevelt

Team is “less ME & more WE”. Moment we realize that fact, everyone would have the heart to help each other without bias.

Everyone individually may be great performers but when it comes to the team everyone has their own apprehensions, perceptions and beliefs. That would not help the team and we should nip such kind of things in the bud.

Comparison with the peers is the psychological barrier that we stumble upon every single day in our workplace. From childhood our performance is appraised after comparing it with others’. Mostly we were never appreciated on our efforts but only with the results.

We cannot control other’s mindset but can control ours, Self-improvement should be our focus. It is not to accept the limitations of the present but strive to go beyond them and create something better. If we hadn’t done this, we would be still living in caves.

Always keep the bars high for you to chase so that you can feel proud of your achievements and this way we will be chasing a better persona of our self throughout.

Comfort Zones

“Change begins at the end of your comfort zone”

Emerging technology has forced many to break their comfort zones and do innovation in their field of expertise. But for some these changes are a bane.

Those who still slouch back in their comfort zones would find it difficult to thrive after few years, those who break their comfort zones today would keep on doing it till their end. It is their personal choice, as everyone has a reason to stick on to their comfort zones. The moment we break those comfort zones, we would face the heat.

I often relate it to my daily work where I may not be able to achieve the results. But we should devote ourselves on such areas of work where we are challenged every day. Gradually we would achieve the feel of self-sustenance as we move ahead.

“When you feel you have exhausted all your possibilities, remember this – you haven’t”
                                                                                          -Thomas.A.Edison.

Seldom we try to take up such responsibilities as we fear the failure - that cause low self-esteem and skepticism. So, in-turn we choose to be in safe haven and continue slouching ourselves in the existing comfort zones. We often forget or elude the fact that these comfort zones that we have is the result of our hard work in the past or our ancestors' after stumbling over so many barriers and hardships.

"Break the shells of fear and mediocrity, face the challenges without being anxious about its result. Follow the instincts and have faith in yourself, this would lead you to tranquility."
